Maybe this will also help: Back in 2000, when the Vatican finally released the Third Secret of Fatima, the CDF promulgated a document along with it that contains the following explanation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary:

"In biblical language, the 'heart' indicates the centre of human life, the point where reason, will, temperament and sensitivity converge, where the person finds his unity and his interior orientation. According to Matthew 5:8, the 'immaculate heart' is a heart which, with God’s grace, has come to perfect interior unity and therefore 'sees God.' To be 'devoted' to the Immaculate Heart of Mary means therefore to embrace this attitude of heart, which makes the fiat – 'your will be done' - the defining centre of one’s whole life."

(Here's the url of the whole document: http://www.cin.org/docs/message-fatima.html)

I like the way they identify the Immaculate Heart with the "clean heart" Christ spoke of in the Beatitudes. Another Biblical tie-in to devotion to Our Lady's Heart! Hope that helps.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05264114214808752130noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422857.post-72842746368860584402010-06-08T19:13:10.212-04:002010-06-08T19:13:10.212-04:00Why, thank you kindly! Why, thank you kindly!Dave Armstronghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07771661758539438173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422857.post-18266992998177933992010-06-08T17:41:53.704-04:002010-06-08T17:41:53.704-04:00No problem :)

Peter Joseph, lecturer in theology at the seminaries in both Sydney and Wagga Wagga and editor of the re-written work by Sheehan "Apologetics and Catholic Doctrine", says that the "breast" in St. John 21:20 and the "side" in St. John 19:34 are both references to Our Lord's heart.David Obeidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17915544898765221614noreply@blogger.com
