My two traditional minded sons protested and are being told that it is a tradition of the parish. I spoke with father and tried to explain but he said he personally doesn't want it, but the old priest did it before him and he doesn't want to rock the boat for fear of reports to the diocese! I am working on him, I shared this article and a few others, what else can I do. I am against the holding of hands for all the reasons above, but the priest holding hands isn't really discussed, other than he should have his hands in the Proper positions. Am I crazy or is this a grave abuse of the liturgy? Please help me formulate a good argument for him to cease this practice. If he doesn't stop I'm pulling my sons from altar service!!
