As a tangental note, In a discussion that I have been having with Mr. Steve Hays in a comm. box at Beggars All over the issue of Transubstantiation and whether the Canons of Lateran 4 were anti-Semitic, I noted that there alot of similarities between the Jewish Sabbath service and the Mass. Hia reply: "[Y]ou can’t prove very much from religious rites since there can be a lot of similarity in practice even though the underlying theology is quite different. There’s a lot of similarity in the way Baptists and Lutherans celebrate communion. But they don’t have the same theological understanding of the rite."<br /><br />Contrary to such thinking, I guess there is a lot you can prove from religious rites after all!Paul Hofferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09182683665344747977noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422857.post-82055141952746908492009-07-03T21:13:04.442-04:002009-07-03T21:13:04.442-04:00Thanks! I got this idea in my head today and decided to search to find some stuff to reinforce what little of it I already knew. It turned out to be fruitful and interesting research, I thought. I know I learned a lot, which makes it fun.Dave Armstronghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07771661758539438173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422857.post-76621665026521995052009-07-03T21:09:04.552-04:002009-07-03T21:09:04.552-04:00Excellent post.
