This would mean, of course, that glory could not be increased.

Ken: All believers are saints - Colossians 1:1; Ephesians 1:1, Philippians 1:1, etc.

Adomnan: But not all believers are equally "saints:" that is, equally holy. Otherwise, no could grow in holiness, and there would be no growth in sanctification.

Ken: not just Mary (and the others the RCC canonizes as "saints")

Adomnan: Why do you hate so much paying due respect to those who are better and holier than you? Or is no one better and holier than you? Sounds like pride to me.

Ken: It is wrong, unbiblical, and idolatrous to make statues of them and pray to them and kiss them and bow down before them.

Adomnan: Is it wrong to make statues of presidents and other eminent people? Have you seen those idol temples in Washington? One is called "the Lincoln Memorial," the other "the Jefferson Memorial." Disgusting, aren't they?

I have even seen people kiss the flag!! Not to mention the idolatrous curtseying that young women used to do -- and all that bowing to royals and in Japan and on and on. Let Calvinist contempt, discourtesy and rudeness prevail everywhere, right? (Although I bet Calvin himself bowed deeply to a lot of people in power and made his followers bow to him.)Adomnanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15746373228302022418noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422857.post-68880624349120852282009-12-28T18:01:52.540-05:002009-12-28T18:01:52.540-05:00All believers in Christ are "partakers of the...All believers in Christ are "partakers of the divine nature" - 2 Peter 1:4

All believers are saints - Colossians 1:1; Ephesians 1:1, Philippians 1:1, etc.

not just Mary (and the others the RCC canonizes as "saints")

It is wrong, unbiblical, and idolatrous to make statues of them and pray to them and kiss them and bow down before them.

I do not deny the gospel nor the promises of God.Kenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17824685809003307918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422857.post-38572070813998879622009-12-28T14:48:24.695-05:002009-12-28T14:48:24.695-05:00Ken: Soli Deo Gloria - to God alone be the glory
...Ken: Soli Deo Gloria - to God alone be the glory

Adomnan: This is a lie, because, as Dave has shown, the Bible teaches that God shares His glory with us -- and yes, it is HIS glory.

And what is the divine glory? It is nothing other than the divine nature itself, which II Peter tells us that God "shares with us." It's not just a matter of "bodies in heaven." (The bodies of the glorified will be on a renewed earth anyway.)

And yes, God does indeed share His glory with Mary and the saints, and they are worthy of veneration precisely because they "share in the divine nature." (II Peter)

You deny the greatest promises of God. God shares His glory with us in heaven in our glorified bodies and conforming us to the image of Christ; but that is His work; we are not to try to "help Him out" (in showing creatures that they will also be glorified) by making and adding statues (idols) and prayers to others in the worship services.

http://turretinfan.blogspot.com/2009/12/mariolatry-exemplified.html

http://triablogue.blogspot.com/2009/12/immaculate-love-interest.htmlKenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17824685809003307918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422857.post-80100650719283792272009-12-27T21:27:31.229-05:002009-12-27T21:27:31.229-05:00Romans 8:17 / 5:1-2 and other passages - sharing i...Romans 8:17 / 5:1-2 and other passages - sharing in His glory vs. the glory that is alone God's (11:33-36) - what we mean by "Soli Deo Gloria"(to God alone be the glory)

John Piper explains the difference between Romans 8:17 and “sharing in His glory” . . . http://www.desiringgod.org/ResourceLibrary/Sermons/ByScripture/10/89_Children_Heirs_and_Fellow_Sufferers/

. . .
