Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam) is Back

The new album, An Other Cup, (his first pop album since 1978 and his conversion to Islam) was just released. The excerpts I've heard thus far are excellent and hearken back, I think, to his classic work from the Teaser and the Firecat / Tea for the Tillerman period.

See the video for Heaven.

On the amazon site you can watch a video from the BBC special Imagine.

In other "baby boomer" music news, you can see Van Morrison in concert on Austin City Limits this weekend (it is on PBS at 1 AM early Sunday in metro Detroit). He's my favorite singer, and I had the great thrill of seeing him in concert for the first time on November 7th. This is a very rare TV performance (I don't know of any other, unless it is on some DVD).

Also, there is an interesting new Beatle album (Love) coming out on 21 November: arrangements from producer George Martin, designed for a "highly successful" Cirque du Soleil show.
